The area that Old Hickory occupies was originally farmland during the 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1917, this site and adjacent land was purchased by the US Government for the construction of a gunpowder plant which was erected by the DuPont Company of Philadelphia. This plant was to produce smokeless gunpowder for the allied war effort during World War I. In March of 1918, ground was broken for the construction of the plant.Read more: Old Hickory

Goodlettsville is a city in Davidson and Sumner counties in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Goodlettsville was incorporated as a city in 1958 with a population of just over 3,000 residents; at the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 13,780. Goodlettsville chose to remain autonomous in 1963 when the city of Nashville merged with the government of Davidson County.
